Nursing Home Bill Passed To Require Staffing Quota For Patients

A bill requiring a nursing assistant quota for patients in one state has passed the state Assembly and now only requires the governor’s final approval. The Senate passed the bill a month prior. The family of a paraplegic man is blaming the nursing home for a patient’s death.  Entrusted with the patient’s care, the nursing home allowed the patient to suffer from bed sores and infections. The nursing home also failed to change the patient’s catheter for four weeks.

Nursing Home Fails To Report Abuse Of Patient, Lawsuit Ensues

A nursing home facility failed to report an incident involving the abuse of a patient after being made aware. The incident took place in a patient’s room, where two nursing assistants strapped the patient to her bed after blocking her from leaving her room and then dragging her across the floor. The patient sustained bruises on her legs and arms.  The nursing home facility did not follow proper procedures in alerting the state.

Nursing Home Assault Witnessed, Leads To Arrest

A male nurse was arrested after allegations that he sexually assaulted a patient at the nursing home. A nursing home employee observed a patient being assaulted by a nurse in the early hours of the morning. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  The victim suffers from dementia and was unable to defend again the assaulter.
