Nursing Home Pharmaceutical Company Settles For Illegal Activity
A nursing home pharmaceutical company has settled claims two separate issues with selling drugs. One of the settlement claims was for illegally selling medication to treat anemia. The settlement to resolve the medication sold to treat anemia was in the amount of $2.5 million for health care fraud. A second settlement claim was made for illegally promoting drugs to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorder.
Nursing Home Settlement Follows Insurance Fraud Claim
A nursing home facility has agreed to pay $600,000 to settle fraudulent insurance claims. The nursing home failed to provide activities to patients that required levels of activity based on physician’s orders. The activities were documented, but not provided.
Community Aids Nursing Home After Robbery
A community came to the aid of a nursing home after a robbery before Christmas. The robber stole the facility’s food, a tv, and cd players. All of the items were to celebrate with a Christmas meal for the patients.
Engineering Students Create Solutions For Nursing Home Patients
University students in an engineering program are taking their classroom skills to nursing homes to aid patients with real problems to solve. Under teacher supervision, students listened to patients make requests and identify issues that they can help rectify. The students were able to work on a barrier option for one of the patients that was flexible and easily stored.
Nursing Home Citations Land Facility On Special Focus List
A nursing home has been placed on a “Special Focus Facility” list following repeated violations and citations from state surveys. In the past two years, the nursing home has been fined more than $150,000 for failure to follow the standard of care for their patients. The facility is one of 86 nursing home facilities on the list. Nursing Home Patients Experience Virus, Isolation
Causes of a virus, possibly the norovirus have been under investigation at a nursing home. The nursing home had 14 cases of the same types of symptoms for patients, leading to a quarantine of patients to their rooms, and a closing of the cafeteria. At least one patient was sent to the hospital testing positive for the norovirus.
