Nursing Home Patients Receive Christmas Serenade From Students

A group of high school students in a special program preparing them for medical professions came to sing for nursing home patients. The students brought a guitar and sang Christmas carols to help celebrate the season. Students in the program are required to have additional science courses to enroll in the program and have an interest in the medical profession.  The students involved in the program enjoy and appreciate the opportunity.

Nursing Home Employees Shorted Paychecks Before Christmas

Nursing home employees went without pay for their last paycheck after finding the IRS froze their payroll in order to receive funding from the previous owner of the facility. The nursing home was sold and the previous owners were in financial distress. The employees are the ones having to pay now.  One employee expressed their disappointment over the situation, especially with the timing of the holiday season.

Children from a local preschool brought Christmas cheer to patients in a nursing home this year. The children sang Christmas carols accompanied by their teachers and a local violinist. The patients sang along with the young singing group and cheered them along the way.  The children dressed festively in Santa hats and brought goodies for the patients to enjoy.

Patient Chokes And Dies While Eating Unsupervised

The family of a nursing home patient is suing the nursing home. The family member choked eating without supervision and died. The family believes the death was negligent and could have been prevented if the nursing home had cared properly for their father.  Choking can occur with elderly as throat muscles weaken with age.

Nursing Home Fined For Immediate Jeopardy Of Patients

A nursing home has been fined for placing patients in immediate jeopardy based on failure to administer medication to patients suffering from epilepsy, heart arrhythmia, and blood infections among other issues.  A series of investigations led to the immediate jeopardy calling.  The fines were assessed at $12,740.  After a few days, the immediate jeopardy calling was lifted.
