Buffalo Nursing Home Fined for Under staffing, Lawmakers Call for Action

According to the Buffalo News online, a New York nursing home in Buffalo was recently fined for extreme under staffing of a nursing home facility. In January 2020, a habitually low-rated Buffalo nursing home was fined upwards of $7,000 by the state after it failed to have sufficient staff on duty, as well as numerous other violations. According to a recent news article published by Med News Media, a North Carolina woman was concerned of  the care her mother was receiving at local a nursing home. By using a hidden camera in her mother's room, she caught video of the nursing home staff engaging in abusive conduct towards her mother. Verbal abuse where the attendant yelled at her mother during a change was recorded by the daughter after the first day of installation.

115 Nursing Home Residents Displaced By Fire; No Injuries Reported

Reported by the Redwood Falls Gazette states that a fire burned through the roof of a Fargo nursing home in late January 2020, forcing the evacuation of about 115 residents. Thankfully, no injures were reported. Some residents of the North Dakota nursing home were moved to an adjoining chapel while local fire crews battled a blaze that started in the attic area.
