A nursing home employee received a special surprise award on her birthday. She served at the same nursing home facility for 34 years. Nominations were received and she was the top nominee.
Nursing Home Employees Plead Guilty To Abuse Cover Up
Two additional nursing home staff members pleaded guilty related to a patient abuse cover up. The employees attempted to reduce charges by pleading guilty on less counts. The abuse cover up involved a patient that was allowed to remain unsupervised while suffering from dementia.
Nursing Home Lawsuit Claim Asking $4 Million
One family of a nursing home patient has filed a lawsuit asking for more than $4 million in damages. Under the care of the nursing home and unable to move, the patient was allowed to fall when bed sheets were pulled out from under her. After the fall, the patient developed pressure wounds in multiple areas on her body.
Claims Of Abuse Lead To Trial For Nursing Home
Former nursing home employees will appear in court for charges of abuse including first degree criminal abuse, forth-degree assault, and knowingly abusing or neglecting an adult and wanton endangerment. Claims against the nursing home were made by two patients that allegedly were slapped, dropped naked in bed, and had a gloved finger and soap put in their mouth. Nursing Home Former Employee Charged After Patient Dies From Abuse Injuries
A nursing home patient was taken to the hospital with injuries to his face and neck. It appeared he had been beaten and choked based on bruising on his neck and face. The patient died just weeks after being treated for his injuries.
Nursing Home Employees To Experience More Stringent Background Checks
Nursing home employees will be undergoing more secure background checks in one state beginning in 2016. Currently, nursing home workers are only required to submit background check applications that only detect in-state offenses. The new background check requirements will involve fingerprinting.
