A nursing home patient and veteran died with no known family to the nursing home. As funeral arrangements were made by the funeral home and nursing home, the public was made aware of his death and asked to honor him. News outlets promoted the story in addition to the nursing home. The outcry led to a large attendance to support him. For more, read the story. 

A patient in a nursing home suffered from malnutrition, pressure ulcers, infections, dehydration, weight loss, and a broken arm based on lack of care. As a result the patient died, bringing the family to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Other lawsuits of a similar nature have also been brought against the same nursing home facility.

Patients at a nursing home suffered effects from bed bugs even after nursing staff raised concerns of the possibility of an infestation. Patients were itching and suffered from rashes before exterminators were called to treat the facility for the bugs. Nursing home employees say they notified administration months before the issues was addressed.

A former nursing home administrator has been charged with theft in excess of $10,000. The administrator had changed a mailing address of a nursing home facility account to his personal home address. Upon the hire of a new administrator, suspicions arose based on documents in his office.  A day after the administrator served his last day at the nursing home facility, an ATM withdrawal transaction took place.

Nursing home patients were allegedly abused for some time in a nursing home facility, leading to accusations by a nurse on staff. The nurse was fired shortly after making the claims and she believes it was due to her whistleblowing. She even received an anonymous letter saying “snitches get stitches”.

A nursing home administrator was sentenced to 7 days in jail for involvement in the cover of a patient’s death. The patient being weaned off a ventilator was supposed to be reconnected to the ventilator, however, the respiratory therapist neglected to do so.
