Nursing Home Volunteer Recognized For Service
After serving for 25 years, a woman has been recognized for her volunteerism to nursing homes, named State Nursing Home Adult Volunteer of the Year for 2015. She started a ministry that offers inspirational therapy to nursing home patients using music and sound equipment to offer uplifting songs in order to lift the patients’ spirits. Under her leadership, the ministry has offered over $250,000 in CDs, cassette tapes, books on tape, DVDs, and cassette tape players.
Six Nursing Homes Receive Fines For Deficiencies
Six nursing homes received fines in one state due to deficiencies. Incidents involving patients that suffered injuries as a result of poor quality care ranged from pressure ulcers to falls, one involving a broken neck bone. The incident involving the patient that suffered the broken neck bone injury went unreported for five days.
Nursing Home Sexual Assault Of Patient Dismissed By Administrator
Officials of a nursing home are being questioned but offering no responses regarding an incident at their facility. A patient sexually assaulted another patient at the nursing home, however, the incident was never reported. The facility director at the time did not take any steps to investigate the incident.

A recent outbreak at a nursing home has perplexed administrators at a medical center. Lab test results were negative for the Norovirus, although symptoms were similar. Patients suffered from nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping.
