Nursing Home Facilities Receive Fines For Deficiencies

Five nursing home facilities have been fined for deficiencies of care. The fines ranged in amounts from $1,060 to $1,300. The nursing homes allowed patients to suffer from pressures sores, injuries falls, and lacerations while transferring, among other injuries.  When contacted about the deficiencies, some of the facilities responded, while other refused comment.

Nursing Home Chain Lawsuit Involving 25 Facilities Pending

A chain of nursing homes has a lawsuit pending against them for false advertisement of facility offerings. The facilities advertised clean accommodations and in a comfortable environment with food and water. A new law passed in one state will allow family members to monitor the care of their loved ones in nursing home facilities. The law requires residents and their families to furnish costs and monitor the equipment. There are still issues and details to be worked out with nursing home facilities and the implementation of the bill, but the overall goal of offering family members peace of mind is the key to this bill.

A nursing home facility has a sewage problem that has continued allowing water to overflow into patient rooms. Relatives of family members in the home are upset that the issue is not resolving fast enough. Nursing Home Abuse Leads To Jail Time

A nurse at a nursing home is facing sentencing of 60 days in jail for the mistreatment of an elderly person. A recent survey inspection identified that 3 of the 63 residents experienced physical or verbal abuse. The abuse residents included a patient who was targeted by four of the caregivers at the nursing home facility.
