A nursing home patient has moved out of her facility after claiming abuse by a nursing home employee. The nursing home patient claims she suffered a sprained arm, bladder infection and severe dehydration. She lived at the facility for five years before transferring to another nursing home.

A now former employee of a nursing facility was accused and found guilty of stealing almost 200 pills from the residents she cared for day to day. The pills she stole were narcotics to be used for controlling pain of the elderly in the facility. The former employee, a licensed practical nurse, filled out the medical documents saying that she gave the residents their pills so she could safely steal them without being caught.

A nursing home chain is required to pay more than $415,000 for failing to accurately report to Medicaid for reimbursement payments. Although what the nursing home chain was penalized, it was made clear that the situation did not harm or pose a threat to any of the patients’ health or conditions.
