Largest Medicare Billing Fraud Bust In History Involves Nursing Homes
A huge Medicare sting has made 46 arrests of doctors and nurses for fraudulent billing in the amount of $712 million. The fraudulent billing came from nursing homes, clinics, and doctor’s offices and preyed upon the elderly, homeless and unknown patients who were shipped medical assistive devices and then billed for them, even though they did not need them. The FBI was involved in the investigation and ran the sting, considered to be the largest Medicare fraud bust in history.
Nursing Home Chain Lawsuit Pending For 36 Facilities
A nursing home chain that operates 300 facilities nationwide in 22 states has a lawsuit pending due to violations in the quality of care its patients receive. The lawsuit is limited the facilities in only one state at this time. The attorney general is citing 36 facilities in the same state for failing to provide care to its vulnerable and elderly patients.

Nursing Home Abuse Caught On Camera, Charges Pressed
Two nursing home workers have been allegedly charged with abuse of an elderly patient. The patient was dragged through the nursing home hallway by his hospital gown that was raised all the way to his neck and left untreated from a head wound for 20 minutes. The abuse was caught on tape and the attorney general’s office was contacted to report the abuse and neglect.
Nursing Home Owner Found Guilty Of Stealing Patient's Savings
A nursing home owner has pleaded guilty to stealing $149,000 from a patient. The money made up the patient’s life savings. Through a plea deal, the former nursing home owner will not serve jail time, but will be responsible to pay back $139,420.56 of the total funds that were stolen as are restitution.
