Large fines in the amount of $136,350 have been issued to a nursing home due to citations received during state inspections. The citations included failure to protect dignity of the residents, failure to document medication changes, and lack of treatment of a pressure sore among other violations. Nursing Home Worker Charged Thanks To Theft Detection Powder
After numerous thefts of a patient at a nursing home, police performed a sting operation to identify the culprit. Powder that turns purple when it makes contact with the skin and even more purple when a person tries to wash it off ultimately solved the case. The theft detection powder was put on currency and placed in a patient’s drawer. The nursing home employee was arrested and released on $750 personal recognizance.

Family members of a loved one filed a lawsuit against a nursing home citing negligence in caring for the patient. Suffering from dementia, Parkinson’s and muscular degeneration among other disabilities, the patient was allowed to fall and fracture her hip. Shortly after the fall, the patient died.
