Four brothers are looking to lay their father’s ashes to rest after his death five years ago in a nursing home. Their father, a patient at the home was dropped from a hoyer lift four feet in the air. He broke his pelvis and died just hours later from hypovolemic shock.

A state auditor’s office has investigated the state health department for a backlog of nursing home complaints. The auditor’s stated that the reviews of the complaints are not being processed in a timely fashion for the level of care concerns that are noted in the complaints in nursing homes. The state departments defended their timeline of response by stating that they are moving as quickly as possible.

Two nursing home employees are in jail on bond for accusations of abuse of an elderly person. The two employees were caught on video “tormenting” and battering a patient at the nursing home. The patient’s son noticed suspicious bruises and decided to install a camera.

A nursing home patient has died at a nearby hospital. A nurse at the hospital noted that the patient showed signs of neglect upon admission. A police investigation is underway to identify the circumstances surrounding the death.

A nursing home is being investigated by police after a patient was raped at the home. A nursing home employee saw the act taking place and reported it. “He got caught in the act, basically, said a police officer.” The man who committed the sexual assault is in jail on $50,000 bond.
