A licensed professional nurse (LPN) and nursing home worker is facing felony charges for failure to report a patient’s fall. The patient suffers from Alzheimer’s and dementia. The patient fell under the care of a certified nursing assistant (CNA).

One state is working towards reducing its administration of antipsychotic drugs. The push came after being identified as the state with one of the highest rates of antipsychotic drug administration in nursing homes. The push has led to a 26 percent reduction of antipsychotic medication prescriptions.

Recent investigative reports about a 2011 nursing home fire reveal that patients’ lives could have been saved if sprinklers had been installed in the home. Fourteen residents died in the fire as the flames reached 100 degrees Celsius. Two fires were lit by a nursing home worker and drug addict who stole medication from the home as well.

A nursing home worker has been found guilty of abuse charges on five counts. She was reported to be mentally, verbally, and physically abusive. She called the patients names such as “monsters” and “idiots”.
