Nursing Home Fees Increase $100 Per Day Due To County Board Vote
Nursing home private-pay patients will see an increase in rates on their nursing home bill. The rates are increasing nearly one hundred dollars per day for skilled nursing care. Patients will also see an increase in care for dementia, transportation, private suites and day services.
Assisted Living Incidents Raise Concerns For Quality Of Care
Concern is growing for patients of assisted living facilities in one area due to the lack of supervision and staffing. Patients are opting for assisted living facilities due to lower costs, however, the care is not sufficient for their needs. “I think most elders and their families think this is a regulated industry, but we don’t have the staff to regulate it,”said a spokesperson for Elder Affairs.
Nursing Home Owners Face Charges For Wage Theft Of Caregiver Employees
Nursing home owners are facing felony charges for wage theft from employees at 14 different facilities. The nursing homes are owned by one large corporation. The caregivers were not being paid minimum wage or overtime.
Nursing Home Patients Test Positive For Enterovirus
Nursing home patients have tested positive for the enterovirus. Thirty patients were showing symptoms and nine of the patients tested positive. Five of those patients were sent to the hospital with their symptoms.
Nursing Home Rankings Cause Concern For Tri-Cities
The release of a national report ranking for nursing home quality care is still causing waves as individual counties review the report. One area of three counties is finding that they ranked low on the report, causing concern to the residents of that area. Numerous violations are noted over a three year span for just one home in the area, including 44 incidents of minimal harm and five incidents of actual harm.
CNA To Serve Jail Time After Using A Patient's Debit Card To Make Purchases
A certified nursing aide is going to prison for theft. The aide worked at a nursing home and stole a debit card from a patient. She then purchased items in two counties totaling more than $2,000.
