A nursing home company that has paid out a $13.2 million lawsuit to a family for negligence of care to their loved one is now under fire from caregivers. The nursing home union workers are on strike due to issues with reduced benefits and pay that they say goes against labor laws. One worker had this to say about it, “It is incredibly irresponsible of the company to repeatedly disregard workers’ rights and force caregivers into a position where striking is the last option they have.

Poor management and massive debt have left forty patients and their families scrambling for a new home to live in. The owner of the numerous facilities allowed debt to rise with some creditors to more than $400,000. The nursing home license was suspended due to the poor financial state.

A family has filed a lawsuit after alleged abuse of their father by a home nurse service. The patient was widowed and being treated at home in his last days. The nursing service was acquired for him when he became unable to fully care for himself.

A group of nursing homes has agreed to a $3.8 million settlement for overbilling Medicare. The nursing homes provided therapy to patients beyond their physical needs and diagnosis. The increased therapy led to the ability to bill Medicare for more money.
