A jury awarded $1.5 million in a wrongful death lawsuit. A nursing home caregiver gave a high dose of morphine to the wrong patient, who died just three days later. The nurse did not check the identification of the patient before administering the drug.

Nursing Home License Revoked, Announces Closing For Health Violations
A nursing home facility has just announced it will close due to health violations, leaving 47 patients looking for a new place to live. The Department of Health was reluctant to close the facility, however they realized it there were few other options with the level of health violations present. “Obviously closing the facility is the last thing that we want to do,” the director of human services licensing said.
Nursing Home Fined $144,000 For Neglect Of Patients
A nursing home inspection initiated due to a complaint received resulted in hefty fines to be paid by the facility. The nursing home inspection identified what was first noted as Immediate Jeopardy, but later downgraded. The fines were put in place at $216,000 with the option of a 35% decrease if the fines were not appealed.

The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) conducted an inspection of a nursing home recently. Findings revealed numerous violations of care for the patients. The nursing home was cited by the HHS for the inadequate care issues.
