A former chaplain at a nursing home was accused of sexually abusing two patients. Nursing Home Faces Multiple Abuse Allegations

Multiple cases have been filed against a senior care facility and their staff. The facility’s license was revoked early this year due to the investigation where the Department of Health found multiple violations. Report Finds Understaffing in Nursing Home Leads to Injuries from Falls, Pressure Ulcers and Medication Errors

Between 2015 and 2018, a study showed that one state had 247 incidents involving elderly patients in nursing homes. The incidents included injuries from falls, medication errors and pressure ulcers. CMS to Add Icon Next to Nursing Homes with Abuse Reports

The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services is helping consumers find safe nursing homes. Their website, Nursing Home Compare, will add an icon next to nursing homes with reported violations starting October 23. This icon will warn consumers about the harmful abuse of a patient within the past year and any potentially harmful abuse during the last two years.The new icon is an effort to increase transparency and to ensure nursing home quality and safety.
