A nursing home closed its doors after septic issues rose beyond the affordability to repair. The home was cited numerous times for “serious issues” by the Board of Health and State Department of Public Health. The home had allowed the problems to persist for three years and finally decided to close the doors of the nursing home housing 70 residents.

One state has eight different nursing homes being fined for negligence in caregiving. The neglected residents in these homes experienced levels of suffering that ranged from medication omission, burns, head wounds, bowel obstruction, and death. The residents were either unattended during falls, or specific instructions for patients were not followed by nursing home caregivers.
Nursing Home Caregivers Serve Jail Time For Distributing Indecent Photos Of Residents
Two nursing home workers were sentenced to prison for taking nude photos of elderly residents and distributing them publicly. The two nurses were accused of recording elderly residents without clothes o with their cell phones. The sentences were for 6 months and 30 days.

A deceased resident’s family is suing the doctor in charge of the nursing home. The resident’s health deteriorated due to dehydration and malnutrition, leading to his death. The family also claims the doctor did not have appropriate staff longevity to manage monitoring vital signs.

A nursing home has been fined $2,000 for negligence with a fall that resulted in a broken neck and ultimately death. The patient slid out of bed and was not taken to the hospital for x-rays until days later. The patient’s neck and face were bruised.

A forgotten bed check is to blame for an 88-year -old female resident freezing to death in the outdoors. She was left outside overnight in the courtyard of a nursing home wearing a night gown in 28-degree weather. The nurse on duty neglected to do the midnight bed check.
