A deceased resident’s family members have filed a wrongful death lawsuit for a resident who was noted to have fallen more than 50 times. The family says a fall led to her death. The home is denying wrongdoing in the case and is seeking dismissal.

A certified nursing assistant (CNA) has been suspended from his nursing license due to accusations of passing out on the job. He allegedly overdosed on prescriptions and left 5 nursing home residents unattended. The hospital verified that he had oxycodone and methadone in his system.

A man broke into a nursing home scaring residents and staff by shooting a flare gun. He claimed to be an ex-military man with a mental illness. Witnesses believed there were two men, one setting fires and one shooting off guns. However, police identified only one man after using pepper ball munition to capture him.   “He was trying to force his way in (to the building,)” a policeman said.

An 84 year old nursing home patient was allowed by the nursing home to fall several times. As a result of the first of her falls at the nursing home, she sustained a left hip fracture. An eighth grade class is writing Christmas cards for nursing home residents as part of a Caring Kids Christmas Cards Project. The students are thoughtful of the seniors to whom they are writing. “God is watching over you,” one student wrote to a woman, living in a facility away from home and family.

After a shooting described as a mercy-killing, many nursing home residents and their loved ones are fearful. A man walked in, shot his near-comatose sister in the head and killed her. The shooting happened mid-morning, however residents and their loved ones were not notified of what happened until later on.
