A nursing home was evacuated for a concerning smell. Residents were complaining of eye and throat irritation. The rescue-fire department was called in to investigate.

A local community of nursing home care advocates are rallying to call for certain state officials to resign. These state officials are responsible for holding nursing homes accountable for the care residents receive. Many of the advocates have loved ones who personally experienced nursing home neglect or abuse and do not want the actions to continue.

An elderly female patient who was a known fall risk was admitted to Avante at Lynchburg, a nursing home in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Just days into her stay, the nursing home permitted her to fall from her wheelchair while being assisted by a CNA.  After the fall, the patient was taken to a local hospital, where she was diagnosed with an oblique left femoral fracture with significant displacement.

A nursing home went without power for five days, infuriating loved ones of the residents living there. The utility company and nursing home are in dispute over who dropped the ball in identifying the home as a nursing home. The utility company says they didn’t know and the nursing home says they informed the utility company.

A nursing home resident waiting for a ride outside the home is missing. He was last seen in his wheelchair at about 2:30pm and was noticed missing at 4pm. His wheelchair was left, but he was nowhere to be found.

A girl scouts troop spent time together creating four different ornaments to deliver to local nursing homes. The troop was comprised of twenty five girls and their co-leaders, working together to serve the community. The ornaments included pine cones with glitter, felt birds, paper balls, and garland wreaths.
