Nursing Home Aid Rapes 92 Year Old Resident Could Serve 19 Years
A 22 year old nursing home aide has been charged with raping a 92 year old resident. Upon discovery of the allegations, the aide was fired and has been in jail since November 26. The aid accused of rape, felonious assault, and patient abuse.
Nursing Home Shooter Sentence of 144-177 Years in Prison Upheld
A man accused of second degree murder for gunning down eight people in a nursing home in was sentenced to 141 and 177 years in prison. The judge said the ruling was fair, although the man appealed the ruling. Among those shot by the man, was an officer.
Nursing Home Agrees To Fine For Obstructing State Ombudsman
A company that owns two nursing home facilities has agreed to pay a fine and change practices for obstructing the work of a state ombudsman. The fine is $3,500 and the nursing home will no longer work to prevent residents from speaking to ombudsman, as they were doing previously. The state involved is one of few that can invoke penalties on homes.
Court Upholds Decision to Fine Home $10,000 For Leaving Suicidal Resident Unattended
A nursing home facility is responsible for leaving a man on suicide watch unattended. Within 20 minutes of being let outside to smoke, the resident hung himself with his belt. The man had already broken his leg in an earlier attempt.
Four Out Of Six Nursing Homes In The Same County Are Placed On Watch List For Severe Abuse
Four out of six nursing homes in one county are on a watch list for reports of severe abuse. The state has an overall rating of a B, whereas many surrounding states have a D rating through a state report card grading system. The overall B does not make up for the fact that 138 out of 680 homes in the state are still on the watch list.
Four Nursing Homes Each Fined $1,000 Or More For Negligence
Four nursing homes have each been fined $1,000 or more for incidents of neglect and/or abuse. The incidents include falls, cuts, bruises, neglect in regards to congestive heart failure, and rapid weight loss. Some homes are defending their actions indicating they will enforce care plans more diligently in the future, while others are refusing comments.
