Patient Dies after Not Receiving Immediate CPR- Nursing Home Fined

The Department of Public Health fined numerous nursing homes after investigations showed several violations. One particular violation resulted in the death of a patient. Staff found the “patient unresponsive, sitting upright with vomit on the face.” They did not initiate CPR until five minutes after the nursing home staff found the patient and then it took another minute before they called 911.
