When visiting their mom at a nursing home, her children were mortified at their mom's condition. They saw her suffering from not only deep bedsores, but also significant dehydration, urinary tract infection, oral thrush, and a host of other ailments. The Department of Public Health fined numerous nursing homes after investigations showed several violations. One particular violation resulted in the death of a patient. Staff found the “patient unresponsive, sitting upright with vomit on the face.” They did not initiate CPR until five minutes after the nursing home staff found the patient and then it took another minute before they called 911.

A 98-year old patient moved to a new nursing home facility after her bank flagged suspicious activity. The nursing home's employees robbed the patient, who suffers from dementia, of $750,000.00-virtually all her life savings.
