Trial is Underway for Former Nursing Home Employee
The trial begins for a former employee of a nursing home accused of physically abusing one of the residents. The former worker pleads not guilty to assaulting an elderly resident when attempting to give her medication. According to reports, while and worker completed rounds on her shift, she entered the room of the victim to administer her required medication.
Retirement Center Staff Steals Medication from Patient
An employee of a retirement community was arrested for stealing medication from the facility where she worked. The employee admitted to police that she stole the drugs from a resident but she was forced to do it by her boyfriend. The theft was discovered when she was stopped by police for improper driving.
Patient with Alzheimer's Found Dead
An elderly long-term care patient who suffered from Alzheimer’s was discovered dead in an alley. The patient was admitted to the nursing home to recover from recent surgery. During a bed check, staff noticed that he was not in his room.
Adult Care Home Owners Steal from Resident
Two owners of an adult care center allegedly have taken money from an elderly resident that they were taken care of at the time. Adult Protective Services (APS) notified the Sheriff’s Department when APS was informed by the victim’s family that changes had taken place regarding her financial records. According to documents, the owner had exploited the victim by changing her will, putting their names on the victim’s accounts and stealing money to take a trip and build an addition to their home.
Investigation into Death at Assisted Living Facility
An elderly resident died days later after she received head lacerations and multiple bruises to her leg, hip and spine. According to facility reports which included a few discrepancies, the resident was discovered either on the floor or lying on the sofa with blood present. After the resident was found, family members were called but not informed of the complete details of her injuries.
