Former Nursing Home Employees Plead Guilty to Abusing Patients
Three former CNAs have pleaded guilty to abusing nursing home patients by spraying water on them just for fun. Another CNA plead guilty for failure to report the incident. They face charges of neglect, abuse, and exploitation and could face up to two years in prison.
Manslaughter Charges for Nursing Home Aide
An aide is facing manslaughter charges stemming from an incident while a resident was in her care. The aide allegedly dropped the 86-year old resident when she was attempting to lift her from a wheelchair. Instead of getting medical assistance, she tried to get a fellow employee to lie for her.
Investigators Conclude that Nursing Home Failed to Give Resident Medication
A state investigation revealed that a nursing home failed to ensure that anticoagulant medication was given to a resident, who went into cardiac arrest and died from blood clots in his lungs. According to a report, while the resident was hospitalized, he received heparin but it was not included in his paperwork when he was transferred to the nursing home. A wife is struggling to find nearby care for her husband and other senior citizens that have to enter nursing homes in other states due to a shortage of available openings. The situation is even more complicated for patients with special mental health conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s, as there are fewer qualified nursing facilities to provide specialized care. This bed shortage also has families having to travel long distances to see loved ones and a lot less often.
Widower Charged for Nursing Home Mistakes after Wife's Death
An elderly widower had to fight a nursing home to be refunded for thousands of dollars in billing mistakes that occurred just days before his wife passed away. He says his wife needed the care that he could not provide and that he had no choice but to place her in a nursing home. The facility had agreed to give him a refund but it took almost ten months before he received anything.

Relatives say that due to lack of training and staff in nursing homes, their loved ones died unnecessarily and were in significant pain. Other complaints of patient neglect range from poor diet, untreated injuries, being left in unsanitary conditions as well as physical and verbal abuse. Staff stated that some of the residents complained because they were spoiled and just seeking attention although former staff members and families confess that there was abuse going on in the nursing home.
