Charges Pending for Nursing Home Staff that Abused Patients

Employees of a nursing home abused patients by restraining them with sheets, throwing water on them, financial exploitation, cruelty, neglect and striking patients. Some of the abused residents were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Nursing Home Resident Sues and Wins Lawsuit

A former nursing home resident files a lawsuit claiming negligence of worker that would not assist her in going to the restroom. Allegedly the worker told the resident that she was busy and could not help her. The resident had previously had knee surgery and when she attempted to go the restroom, she fell and damaged her knee and lost so much blood that she needed to be resuscitated upon arriving to the hospital.

Missing drugs and Poor Patient Problems Found in Personal Care Facility

According to a statement, the state Department of Community Health inspected a personal care home and issued arrest warrants for the owner and employees and ownership was temporarily revoked from current owners. An investigation, also unveiled evidence of a long history of abuse with patients being slapped, restrained and tortured frequently by staff members. Also included in the investigation are three deaths that occurred earlier in the year.

Assisted Living Facility Workers Recorded Residents

Two former employees of an assisted living facility face charges after being accused of recording and photographing naked residents and exchanging the images.  A fellow employee tipped off the facility owner that two other employees used their cell phone to take obscene images of nude residents and then passed the images along for others to view. The tipster stated that she was shown the photos of another staff member assisted a resident that was experiencing obstructive bowel issues.

Terminated Worker Claims Facility Sought Revenge

A former nursing home employee who reported to state health officials that he discovered a elderly patient saturated in urine and who took photos of another patient’s bedsore is allowed to proceed with his whistle-blower and wrongful termination lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that the former employee observed a male patient that was calling for help after he had fallen. When he reported the incident to the nurse told him, she stated that the resident falls all of the time.
