Employees Plead Not Guilty to Assault of Patient at Nursing Home
According to officials, two health care workers were accused of abusing an elderly patient in a nursing home. The healthcare workers allegedly assaulted an 88-year-old male patient with dementia. An administrator at the nursing home says the patient was soaked in urine and wouldn’t let the two former employees clean him up.
Firefighters Help to Rescue Residents in Assisted Living Facility Blaze
Residents and staff members needed to be rescued and relocated after a fire destroyed an assisted living facility. Everyone was rescued from the burning building without sustaining injuries and was assisted by various people that were in close proximity to the facility. There were over 200 firefighters on the scene to help battle the blaze that caused the facility to be completely destroyed.
Owner of Illegal Assisted-Living Facilities Talks
Four allegedly illegal assisted-living facilities were ordered to shut down for terrible living conditions and mistreatment of its patients. The owner was willing to talk as she was asked about a history of problems with her homes. The Sheriff’s Office stated that the owner kept a lock on the refrigerator and medications from residents.
Resident Sex Offender Accused of Molesting Fellow Resident at Nursing Home
A registered sex offender and resident housed in a nursing home is accused of molesting a disabled man who also lives there. The offender is said to have fondled the other resident while in his room according to an arrest affidavit. The disable resident was not able to remove himself from the offender because he has a disability.
Nursing Home Closes Based on Video
A nursing home owner struggles to keep the facility open. The Department of Health plans to shut down a 91-resident nursing home after hidden camera footage recorded patient neglect and abuse, deficiencies found during inspections involving food handling and patient care. Due to its numerous complaints and poor status with the state, the Attorney General made a first time move by placing hidden cameras in patient room with permission of the patients.
Nursing Home Fined When Residents Die From Pneumonia
A nursing home has been fined $2,000 for lapses in patient care in connection with an outbreak of viral respiratory illnesses at the home in which four patients died of pneumonia. According to records, nearly half of the home’s 43 residents were sickened during the outbreak.
