According to police, three elderly nursing home residents have accused fellow residents of sexually assaulting them while at the facility. Detectives are investigating the claims that two male patients sexually assaulted the three female residents. The facility is also conducting an internal investigation of the incidents.

According to officials, earlier this week two certified nurses’ aides were charged with taking gruesome photographs of eleven patients at three different nursing homes. The attorney general stated that the aides abused patient privacy and trust. The images included photos of a patient’s bedsore and a video of a dementia patient overwhelmed by fear.

A nursing home in one state has agreed to pay a $12,000 fine after investigators determined the facility  mistakenly failed to intervene when a patient suffered a fatal heart attack in 2011. Officials from the Department of Health issued the fine against the facility in connection with the death. According the investigative report, state inspectors found that the nursing home improperly trained its staff on the nursing home’s do-not-resuscitate policy.

A Virginia woman is facing charges of stealing jewelry from residents at an Albemarle County assisted-living community. Police say the 51-year-old employee was charged with grand larceny and eight counts of selling property stolen at the facility. The woman had worked at Rosewood Village Assisted Living for the past three years.

According to officials with the Department of Health, a nursing home employee in one state has been accused of neglecting a resident who was injured at the facility. According to an investigative report, the patient broke two bones as a result of a fall at the facility.  The employee was cited for neglect when officials determined that the resident had been left in her wheelchair with the light off and the door to her room closed, without oxygen and without her call bell in reach. According to police, a man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly had sexual contact with an elderly nursing home resident. The 71-year-old suspect allegedly had sexual contact with an acquaintance who resides at the facility. Police say a staff member at the home walked into the patient’s room during the act and alerted authorities.
