The daughter said she put her mother in a nursing when she developed severe dementia with the hopes that she would receive care and respect. Nursing Home Care Aide Arrested for Stealing Over $10,000 from Elderly Resident
Police have arrested a woman who worked as a personal care assistant at a retirement community on charges she attempted to steal more than $10,000 from an 88-year-old resident. The 25-year-old aide was hired at the facility to help the elderly woman dress, eat, and perform other activities. According police, when the elderly woman was admitted to the hospital, she left her purse at the facility.
Virginia Home Care Nurse Sentenced to Jail For Abuse of Elderly Dementia Patient
A home health care provider has been sentenced to more than a year in jail for mistreating a 93-year-old dementia patient in her care. A judge sentenced the Virginia Beach nurse last month after video footage in court showed the woman punching, slapping and taunting her elderly patient. She received 18 months in jail.

A large nursing home corporation has agreed to pay $2.7 million to resolve allegations of False Claims Act violations. According to the department of justice, the company filed Medicare claims for rehab therapy that was medically unreasonable and unnecessary. A nursing home has filed a report with the Department of Health regarding elder abuse at the facility. The facility is mandated by the state to report the incident to the Department of Health, who in turn is required to report the incident to police. According to the report, on the afternoon of March 15, staff witnessed a nurse’s aide push a male resident several times on the head.
Four Arrested For Abuse and False Imprisonment of Care Home Resident
Four people have been charged with abuse of a man at a residential care home. According to police, the employees and owners of the residential care home restrained and beat the facility’s only resident. The staff allegedly struck the victim with a metal baseball bat, forced him to drink a Coke with his hands behind his back, and punched the victim in the head and face.
