Police are investigating an aggravated assault at a Virginia nursing home earlier this month. According to police, the assault occurred on a Saturday evening at Consulate Health Care of Winsor, Virginia. Police say, a patient of the Alzheimer’s ward entered the victim’s room, closed the door and proceeded to assault the victim, who was in bed.

A woman who fled to Kenya after she was accused of elder abuse pleaded guilty in a U.S. court this week. The woman received six years in jail after she pleaded guilty to three counts of abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Investigators in one state have found evidence that a nursing home worker neglected a resident when she failed to save a patient in distress. Officials determined that the staff member did not administer CPR to a resident who was unable to speak or breathe. The patient died shortly thereafter.
