Cabinet Falls on Elderly Woman Leading to her Death; Nursing Home Settles

Nursing Home Employees Fired After Dropping Resident and Lying About Incident

State officials have blamed two nursing home employees for the death of a resident who dropped during transfer. A report by the State Health Department said the employees who were moving the resident with a mechanical lift from a bed to a wheelchair failed to ensure that the sling was properly attached to the lift. The resident fell to the floor and suffered numerous fractures and a collapsed lung.

A nursing home in one state has opened it’s doors to give tired caregivers rest from dementia sufferers who do not sleep through the nights. The program is kind of a “night camp” for dementia victims who don’t sleep at night or tend to wake up agitated or become frightened or disoriented by darkness. It is intended for patient’s who do need 24-hour nursing home care, but often cannot sleep at night.

Police Search For Elderly Diabetic Man Missing From Nursing Home for Nine Days

Police in one state are asking the public’s to help locate a 59-year-old man who has been missing from a nursing home for more than a week. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a nursing home on Tuesday, October 2, where staff reported that  a 59-year-old male resident has been missing since Wednesday, September 26. The resident was last seen at a dialysis center where he received scheduled treatment.
