State regulators have said that a nursing home nurse is to blame in the case of a resident who was left unattended in his bathroom, then fell and broke his hip while trying to return to bed. The patient died soon after the fall. A state investigative report said the nurse assisted the resident to the bathroom one evening.

A nurse’s aide has been charged with elder abuse after police say she slapped a 98-year-old resident with the back of her hand at the nursing home where she worked. A nurse’s aide who worked with the elderly has been arrested by police following a two-month investigation into the theft of narcotic pain patches from cancer patients. Sheriff’s detectives arrested 37-year-old nursing home employee earlier this month on charges of larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with evidence. Supervisors at the county run nursing home alerted noticed Fentanyl patches missing from several patients at the facility and notified police.
Nursing Home Employee Arrested For Stealing Residents' Money and Jewelry
A woman was charged with stealing more than $5,000 worth of jewelry and cash from four residents of a nursing home where she worked. The 55-year-old nursing home employee allegedly stole jewelry from three residents and took $80 cash from a fourth resident in July and August. The woman was arrested at the nursing home earlier this month on four counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
