Woman Sues Hospital After Bed Sore Leaves Her Without Use of Her Right Arm

A woman is suing a hospital after she claims a bed sore (also known as pressure sore, pressure ulcer, decubitus sore, and decubitus ulcer) she developed while admitted caused her to lose much of the use of her right arm. Federal Regulators Launch Efforts to Cut Use of Antipsychotics in Nursing Homes

Federal regulators announced a multiyear initiative this week to reduce the inappropriate use of antipsychotic drugs on nursing home residents. According to the Boston Globe, nearly 40 percent of residents with dementia were receiving the powerful sedatives though they did not have a condition that would warrant it. Nurse Fired After Exposing Thousands to Hepatitis & HIV

The State Board of Nursing for one state recently reprimanded a former diabetes nurse educator after she potentially exposed more than 2,000 patients to hepatitis or HIV. The board also fined the nurse $450 and required that she take classes on medical errors, infection control and exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
