A nursing home was taken over by the state Friday after officials found the nursing home was not able to meet its payroll, lacked a licensed administrator and was recently cited by the state with “immediate jeopardy” after officials determined 21 of the 24 elderly residents on Medicaid were not receiving adequate care. State Considers Legislation To Tighten Rules on Sex Offenders in Nursing Homes
Legislators in one state have passed a bill in the House to offer nursing home residents additional protection from sex offenders. The bill requires notification whenever anyone on the sex offender registry moves into a nursing home. the bill comes as the response to a case of an 83-year-old man transferred by a judge from the sex offender unit to a nursing home where he then assaulted a 95-year-old female resident.
Assisted Living Facility Resident Charged with Assault After Stabbing Employee In Neck
An assisted living facility resident is accused of stabbing a worker at the center last week. The 53-year-old man appeared in court last Wednesday after being accused of attacking three people at the assisted living center. According to police, the man was sitting in a staff member’s office when he suddenly began stabbing her in the neck and shoulder with a pocket knife.

Lawmakers in one state are working to link nursing home satisfaction ratings to the amount of funding those facilities receive from the state. Under recent changes in state law, the nursing homes must show they are providing quality care to residents or they will lose about 10 percent of their Medicaid funding. Psychotic Attempted Murderer Escapes From Nursing Home
An inmate, who is considered violent and dangerous, escaped from a long term care facility last week. The 53-year-old man escaped from the nursing home sometime before 5:15 a.m. last Thursday.
