The former bookkeeper of one nursing home has been sentenced to prison for stealing funds from resident accounts. Joseph The 33-year-old bookkeeper was sentenced to serve 18 months in state prison after he was convicted of stealing $115,734 from residents at the facility. The man, who was a financial specialist at the nursing home, pleaded guilty to accessing a number of residents’ accounts that had credit balances and changing the information, according to court records.

According to a Department of Health report, a former employee of a nursing home has been accused of having sexual contact with a resident at the facility. The report states that a resident told a state inspector that several times while he was providing care, an employee repeatedly sexually assaulted her. Man Pleads Guilty to Violent Murder of Assisted Living Facility Resident

A man, mentally ill, pleaded guilty in last week to the murder of an elderly resident in 2009 while the men were living in an assisted living facility. The suspect had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, paranoia, and chronic alcohol abuse, according to the Division of Health Service Regulation Adult Care Licensure Section which responded to the murder. Following the guilty plea, the man was sentenced to a maximum of 18 years and nine months in prison.
