Some of the violations were found after a complaint and investigation was conducted, and one may have been a random inspection. Family of Indigent Person with Unpaid Nursing Home Expenses Could be Liable for Unpaid Bills in One State

According to the statute, “filial support” creates liability in certain circumstances for a relative’s unpaid care expenses. In 2012, one man was found financially responsible in a court of law for his mother’s $93,000 unpaid nursing home bill.
