Family of Nursing Home Resident Files Case Against Facility Following Abuse

The family of an elderly woman has filed a civil suit against the woman’s former nursing home after she had to be removed from due to alleged abuse. Following the abuse, the 78-year-old woman still begs her family not to hurt her as they tuck her in to bed at night. Nursing Home Corrects Care and Safety Deficeincies Just in time to Avoid Closure

The State Department of Heath has allowed a nursing home to remain open after correcting a series of code violations. The violations were discovered during investigations in April, July and August and involved resident rights, quality of life issues and problems with the physical environment. The nursing home was ordered to rectify the violations by October or they would lose their Medicaid backing.

Nurse at Long Term Care Facility Pleaded Guilty to Intentional Overmedication of Residents

A former nurse charged with overmedicating residents at a long term care center where there were six suspicious patient deaths admitted this week she gave one patient a drug he had never been prescribed. The woman, who has been described as the “Angel of Death” by a co-worker — faces up to three years in prison after pleading guilty to felony criminal neglect. Authorities began investigating the nursing home in 2006 following reports of six unusual patient deaths involving morphine overdoses.

Police are searching to the suspect after a 90-year-old woman  was attacked and robbed in an assisted living center.  The elderly victim said she thought she was going to be killed. Nursing Home Residents Get Trip to Disney World

Residents of one nursing home made a special trip last week to to relive their childhood at Walt Disney World.  The residents were part of a larger group to make the journey. A total of 22 residents and 30 caregivers made the trip from Kentucky and Tennessee nursing homes on board a charter bus. The nursing homes held fundraising events throughout the year to cover the $30,000 cost of trip.

Care Home Operator Sentenced to Jail After Resident Dies with 17 Pressure Ulcers

The operator of a care home was sentenced to  90 days in jail after neglecting an 86-year-old man, who died four years ago after being taken to the hospital with bedsores (aka bed sores, pressure sores, pressure ulcers, decubitus sores, decubitus ulcers) covering the back of his body. The facility’s operator was also placed on five years’ probation and ordered to pay  a $15,709 fine.
