Care Home Operator Charged With Perjury and Tampering with Evidence

Criminal charges have been filed following a civil lawsuit against a woman who provides assisted living care out of several homes. The 46-year-old “caregiver” is charged with three counts of aggravated perjury, tampering or fabricating evidence, and felony theft. Earlier this year a civil lawsuit was filed against her and her husband by family members of a woman who died while residing at one of the couple’s facilities.

Nursing Home Cited for Neglect Following Multiple Resident Falls

According to the Department of Health, one nursing home was cited for neglect stemming from a complaint by a resident last summer.  The Department of Health sent a special investigator to the nursing home after a resident reported that she fell out of her wheelchair twice and out of a mechanical lift once; she hit her head during two of these falls. Employee at Assisted Living Facility Hit, Pinched and Kicked 93-Year-Old Resident

A woman is accused of abusing a 93-year-old dementia patient at an assisted living facility. The 43-year-old employee of the assisted living facility was charged with simple assault after she pinched, hit and kicked the elderly resident June 10, according to court documents in the case. According to police, the employee pinched the patient who had pinched her, slapped the woman when she tried to bite, and then responded to a kick with three kicks to the patient’s shin.

Former Nurse's Assistant Pleads Guilty to Elder Abuse

A former nursing assistant who pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful abuse or neglect of an adult will still go to trial in August. The former nursing home employee who now admits to physically and verbally abusing elderly residents accepted a plea bargain in return for a reduced jail sentence last week. But shortly after pleading guilty, she refused to confess to the judge exactly what she was guilty of.
