Nursing Home Loses Medicare Funding After Failing to Correct Care Issues

A nursing home is being stripped of its eligibility to receive Medicare or Medicaid payments for residents because of financial and care related problems, state Health Department officials confirmed last week.  The nursing home has been given 30 days to relocate the residents whose care will no longer be funded. Nursing Home Investigated Following Disappearance of Pain Medications

Police have launched a criminal investigation at one nursing home where medications have been going missing. Three employees have been fired in connection with the missing medications but no arrests have been made. Nursing home officials said that dangerous drugs like Xanax and Hydrocodone disappeared from medication carts inside the nursing home.

Woman Arrested For Stabbing Nursing Home Resident to Death

Police released a picture from a security camera last week of a smiling woman leaving a nursing home where a resident had just been stabbed to death. Someone called in to Crime Stoppers with a tip, and the police department announced that the smiling woman from the security camera had been arrested and charged with murder. According to police, the 48-year-old has confessed to the May 7 stabbing.

Nursing Home Pays $20,000 Fine After Resident's Death

A nursing home has paid a $20,000 state fine and fired five employees after an incident in 2009 in which a blind female resident with dementia drowned in a puddle about 200 feet away, state records show. The resident left the facility between 2 and 4 a.m. through a door with the alarm turned off on November 12, 2009, a state report said.
