According to court testimony, safety failures in a nursing home led to the death of a resident asphyxiated when she became trapped in her bed. The 89-year-old woman died when her head and neck became lodged between the headboard and side rails fitted to stop her falling out. According to court records, a similar incident occurred just three weeks before the woman’s death but no changes were made.

The caregiver has been charged with theft after she wrote several checks to herself from 78-year-old man’s just weeks before his death. Caregiver Arrested on 90 Counts of Forgery, Theft and Elder Abuse
Police arrested a woman for allegedly stealing over $287,000 from an elderly man while working as a caregiver in a retirement community. The woman, age 31, worked for the 81-year-old victim at the retirement community since 2007. She is accused of accessing the man’s checkbook and writing checks to herself from the victim’s personal bank accounts without his consent.
