A caretaker was arrested Saturday for alleged sexual assault with intent to commit rape of an 80-year-old woman. the man had previously cared for the woman’s husband, who died in February, and was rehired by her family on May 2 to care for the woman, authorities said. According to police, there were two incidents.

Eighth-grade student Morgane Butler hopes to raise approximately $1,500 for a new salon chair for her local nursing home by mid-summer. With the help of her classmates and other community members, Butler is collecting cans and bottles that she can recycle for cash to donate to the nursing home. The hairdresser has seen patients everyday for the past 30 years, and she says the chair has been at the facility for nearly 40 years.

A brutal attack inside a State Mental Hospital Wednesday night left an elderly patient in poor condition after a series of violent incidents at the troubled facility. The beating occurred just days after a staff member was attacked by a patient, the latest incident had workers and patients expressing concerns about safety inside the hospital. Witnesses at the facility said the victim, a man in his 60’s, was currently in a coma at a local hospital.

A wrongful-death lawsuit against an assisted living facility claims it was negligent for not realizing for days that a 79-year-old resident of its assisted living unit, had fallen and was injured. According to the lawsuit filed by the man’s children, he fell on May 7 or 8, 2009, in his apartment in the complex and was not discovered until they called the office on May 10, worried that he did not answer the phone. At 93, Frances Wosmek was still taking twice-daily walks through her neighborhood and still able to drive to see friends. Last March however, things changed after she took a bath. The water in her condo complex was so hot that she was burned so badly she had to have surgery to remove sections of skin.
