Nursing Home Resident Dies After Falling From Window
A 57-year-old man died after he fell while trying to climb out of the window of his nursing home. The man was using a rope made from bed sheets when he fell to his death. The man was pronounced dead 10:30 a.m. Wednesday according to the medical examiner’s office.
Nursing Home Ordered to Freeze Admissions Until Care is Improved
A government watchdog has identified a “serious risk” to residents and ordered a number of sanctions, including the appointment of an independent nursing supervisor at one nursing home. The Department of Health Care and Ageing has ordered that the facility will not be allowed to take new residents for six months. The action comes after the daughter of an elderly resident claims her mother was assaulted with a serious bite on the hand by another resident.
Nursing Home Employee Jailed for Hitting Elderly Woman with A Hair Brush
A twenty eight year old nursing home employee is facing charges after she reportedly hit an elderly woman, who was in her care, with a hair brush. The incident occurred in March at a nursing home where the elderly woman was a resident. A co-worker, who witnessed the assault, called police.
Nursing Supervisor Stands Trial In Case of Missing Morphine
Testimony was heard today in the second day of trial for the first of two women accused in the “Angel of Death” case. The 62-year-old nursing supervisor at a nursing home where prosecutors say several patients were administered too much morphine currently stands trial. She was charged in 2008 with five counts of neglect and two counts of obstructing justice.
Virginia Social Worker Sentenced to Prison For Stealing From Elderly
Two residents of Galax, Virginia have been sentenced to prison for stealing from the elderly. U.S. Attorney Timothy Heaphy says 36-year-old Jennifer Edward Hall was sentenced Monday to one year, nine months and forty-seven-year-old Bernard Dale Satterfield was sentenced to one year, four months.
Nursing Home Employee Arrested For Stealing from Edlerly Woman
A woman who works as a nursing assistant for two different companies was charged with stealing more than $500 from an elderly woman in her care. The 33 year old care giver was arrested and charged with felony larceny of over $500 on last week after police detectives investigated a son’s allegation that a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), had taken money from the purse of his elderly mother.
