Medicare Releases Information on Medical Errors in Hospitals Across the Nation

Medicare is now publishing information on medical errors to allow the public to compare the safety records of more than 4,700 hospitals nationwide. Three Arrests Made In Connection with Nursing Home Abuse Caught on Tape

Police arrested two additional care workers and have charged them with the abuse of an elderly dementia patient at a nursing home facility, police said. Both of the employees are charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal conspiracy, harassment, neglect of a care-dependent person and other related crimes. The two worked at the facility and allegedly taunted and physically abused a 78-year-old woman, suffering from dementia.

Woman Dies on Her 92nd Birthday After Vehicle Drove Through Nursing Home

An elderly woman died over the weekend after she was hit by a car while sitting in a nursing home dining room. At around 3:45 Thursday afternoon, an 85-year-old man who was traveling to the facility to visit his wife experienced a sudden medical emergency, which caused him drive through the dining room of the nursing home. The vehicle struck a 91-year-old female resident who was in a wheelchair drinking coffee in that area.
