The Cabinet for Health and Family Services is investigating a U.S. nursing home where a woman worked who is wanted to stand trial in Bosnia for alleged war crimes including murdering and torturing civilians. The woman also worked at another U.S.

A man is in custody after he reportedly sexually battered a fellow nursing home resident. The 53-year-old faces one charge of sexual battery as a result of incidents alleged to have occurred last Friday. According to reports, the victim in the told police that a fellow resident had entered her room and touched her inappropriately before exposing himself and asking her for sexual favors.

Skookum knows what residents and visitors to Red Deer Hospice need — a furry, friendly face. The 11-year-old bichon-shih tzu visits the hospice at least once a week with his owner. Skookum became a therapy dog by chance after visiting a local nursing home.

Wednesday a judge rejected a bid for a conditional sentence over the role that a woman played in the killing and disposal of a 41-year-old woman at an assisted living facility last year. The judged sentenced the 19-year-old woman, to 25 months in prison for being an accessory after the fact in the murder. Allegations have risen that a nursing home employee struck a one of the facility’s residents in the eye. The nursing home currently has a one-star (much below average) rating from government inspectors. An official for the facility denies the abuse allegation, saying she does not believe it took place.

According to Police, the body of an 83-year-old man was found in a lake adjacent to the assisted-living facility where he lived on Wednesday morning. The elderly man was last seen at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, officials with the facility said.
