Trouble Nursing Home Cut Off from Medicaid Funding

Report from Chicago Tribune: Federal authorities are moving this week to terminate Medicaid funding to one troubled Nursing Center after a series of inspections revealed that residents were engaged in bloody fights and drug abuse that spilled from the facility out into the surrounding community. Veteran's Center Employee Arrested for Abusing Four Vulnerable Adult Patients

District Attorney of one state has filed charges against a veteran’s center employee targeted more than two weeks ago in a patient abuse case. The 47-year-old employee was formally charged this week with four counts of abuse by caretaker. The charges, which list four separate victims, accuse the man of using “excessive force” while caring for the victims, all described as “vulnerable adults” residing at the center.

Nursing Home Employee Charged with Abuse and Neglect of Elderly Resident

Police have charged a 34-year-old nursing home employee with snapping a towel in the face of a 93-year-old patient. Court records don’t currently list an attorney for the man who is charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, and neglecting to care for a dependent person. Court Rules to Uphold State's Decision to Shut Down Nursing Home

The 1st District Court of Appeals has upheld a state order a troubled nursing center be shut down. The move is so rare that the facility would be the only nursing home in the states recent history to be forcibly closed by state regulators. The state Agency for Health Care Administration began taking action to close the center in July, saying it failed to protect residents from hurting themselves and each other.

Nurse's Aide Investigated After Hitting Nursing Home Resident With Bed Pan

A nurse’s aide is currently being investigated for allegedly hitting a patient with a bed pan.Police took a report from a patient at a nursing home who indicated that a nurse’s aide had thrown a plastic bed plan at him March 2. An Area Agency on Aging employee contacted police after receiving a complaint from the resident’s daughter Monday. The patient had a bruise on his stomach from the bed pan, according to the police report.

Unsanitary Conditions and Care Concerns Force Authorities to Shut Down Three Nursing Homes

Dozens of nursing home residents in three different long-term care facilities had to be relocated after alleged abuse was discovered. Investigators from the Police Department’s Family Investigations Unit and the Attorney General’s Office arrested a 42-year-old registered nurse and owner of three long term care facilities on a long list of charges of abuse of vulnerable adults. Three long term care facilities were shut down in light of the allegations.
