Nursing Homes Using Music to Solve Issue of Rising Bedsores

Following a University of Cincinnati study Nursing homes across one state are playing music over a loud speaker every two hours, prompting caregivers to stop what they’re doing and make sure residents are re-positioned. The 10 facilities participating in the program are being studied by researchers in connection with Signature HealthCARE. Directors and Administrators of facilities participating in the program have had good thing to say so far about the music.

One State Responds to Nursing Home Neglect and Abuse

Officials in one state are proactively responding to reports that serious allegations of abuse and neglect in nursing homes have often gone ignored due to administrative holes. The officials are taking action to make sure that type A citations will be prosecuted more often. The Cabinet’s inspector general, who’s office issues the Type A citations, has established regular meetings to keep better track of them.

Former Nurse's Aide Charged with Abusing Resident

A woman has been charged with verbally and physically abusing a nursing home resident last March. The 21-year-old nurses aide who was released on $1,000 bail after an initial appearance earlier this month in Circuit Court, was charged with one felony count of abuse of a patient, according to the state Justice Department, which is prosecuting the case.
