A nursing home is under fire for more deficiencies after survey reports were released.  The facility already has a history of failures to offer quality care to its patients in a clean and safe environment.  Some of the failures involve direct patient care while others involve the facility itself. Faculty staff failed to administer medication correctly, maintain policies for record keeping, and properly feed residents.

A whistleblower center in one state is recruiting medical doctors to aid in the identification of nursing homes that are overbilling for Medicare and Medicaid. The center is making a plea and a monetary offer for those who may be willing to help in the investigation of fraudulent facilities receiving reimbursements beyond the amount they are due. Nursing home employees have been suspended and are under investigation for the neglect of nursing home patients. The state attorney general has filed charges and is pursuing a case against the nursing home and employees involved in the neglect. One patient was described to have “literally rotted to death”. The neglect involved six current and former employees as well as a contracted nurse.

Three staff members at a nursing home have been suspended and a police investigation is underway. The investigation involves abuse of a resident that was allegedly caught on camera. The facility has brought in upper management to oversee the facility during the investigation. No arrests have been made as the police investigation is ongoing.

A lawsuit has been filed against a nursing home facility after a patient suffering from heart-attack induced dementia wandered away from the facility and froze to death. the facility failed to report the patient was missing for more than 12 hours. The patient was found dead two days later next to a dumpster. “This is a tragedy that could have been prevented if the facility had followed its own policies and procedures,” said the family's attorney.

A nursing home bill is advancing after increasing stories of abuse have surfaced. The bill advocates the use of “granny cams” in one state. The cameras would be installed to observe the care of a patient in a nursing home facility.
