The 97-year-old woman was unable to manage her own finances and trusted the facility staff to aid with her financial management. The emoyees abused her trust and spent the money on themselves. They wrote checks to cash and for gifts to themselves for up to $50,000.

Nursing Home Aide Pleads Guilty To Stealing Patient's Morphine

A nursing home aide has been sentenced to two years probation after stealing morphine from a patient in her care. She joked to a fellow employee the morphine on the med cart was expired and she should take it home. The next day the morphine was reported missing. Later, the aide was questioned by police where she denied taking the morphine and then said it was for her husband.
