Nursing Homes Experiencing Staffing Shortages, Allowing Patient Incidents

Nursing homes in one state are experiencing extremely low staffing with nearly half of the facilities either below or much below the national staffing average for nursing homes. The issue is becoming more public as reporting methods of actual staffing have been updated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) to increase accuracy. Facilities historically were able to project staffing and have the facility surveyed on a given date to verify staffing levels.

A nursing home has been cited with a Class AA citation resulting in a $100,000 fine. The citation followed the death of a patient who died at the negligence of the nursing home. The patient fell while transferring to the toilet.

Attorney General May Now Prosecute Nursing Home Abuse Cases

The Attorney General in one state is praising a new law and acted allowing the state to now prosecute against abuse of the elderly which includes abuse by institution such as nursing homes. Nursing Home Under Review For Termination Of Medicare Support

A nursing home facility that is currently out of compliance with medicare regulations is also under review for termination of medicare support.  The facility was cited for allowing patients to be in immediate jeopardy. The citations came forth after a hidden camera was placed in a patient's room.
