A nursing home has been reported for allowing a patient to catch on fire while smoking unsupervised. The patient was using an oxygen tank and reportedly took a drag of another patient's cigarette. An observer of the incident said it took nursing home staff 10 minutes to reach her.

Nursing home residents had a special visitor this week. An 18-year-old horse originally brought outdoors to meet some residents was later brought back indoors. One of the patients was initially unable to go outside to meet the horse, so the owners brought the horse back to meet him. The patient had a history with horses and loved seeing one again in person.

Recent reports made public show that VA facilities have lower ratings than privately owned nursing homes. Patients are more likely to suffer from bed sores and pain at. VA facility than a nursing home.

A man has been accused of staying in a nursing home and stealing from the patients. The 29-year-old man was in the facility using the shower, stealing clothes, a laptop, and other personal items from the patients. He was also watching tv there.

A nursing home executive is soon to be sentenced for funneling money from kickback schemes into shell companies to pay for personal expenses. Four caregivers have been charged with abuse and neglect of an elderly person. The caregivers were taking care of the individual in his home in exchange for free room and board where he lived. The individual was malnourished and had terrible bed sores that were left untreated while living in poor, unclean conditions.”He looked scared.
