A family member installed a hidden camera in their loved one's nursing home room. The patient had complained of being mistreated by staff at the facility. After the camera caught abuse on video, several workers were fired as a result of the treatment recorded. The footage recorded the patient falling out of bed, calling for help for more than an hour with no answer, and then being berated once approached by a nurse.

Nursing homes have immense staffing problems, requiring more career paths focused on nursing for nursing home facilities. Nursing students are being encouraged to apply at nursing homes. Unfortunately, the turnover rate is as high as 90 percent in some states.

Two individuals with loved ones formerly in nursing homes decided to continue giving back after their loved ones passed. They noticed the difference dolls made for Alzheimer’s patients and started a baby doll drive to provide dolls for patients at a nursing home in memory of their loved ones with Alzheimer’s.“So many times we’ve seen with the Alzheimer’s patients that the last 30 years, maybe 40 years, that’s what’s gone,” said one of the loved one…

Nearly 37,000 nursing home patients and other healthcare recipients may lose their heathcare and be evicted from their nursing homes. One state is cutting its budget due to a financial crisis. The outcome could leave masses displaced and in need. Budget approval is still underway while many object to the changes.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid are working to provide morebacvurate staffing data that helps decide the its rating.  Staffing data helps decide the number of stars from 1-5, 5 being the highest and one being the lowest.Staffing data is being checked against payroll showing actual hours worked, versus solely nursing home reported figures. This verification allows the facilities to be unranked accurately and decipher 

A nursing home nurse has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, neglect and records tampering. The nurse allowed a patient to fall and hit his head. She then failed to provide him with a series of neurological exams.
